Sunday School Lesson Series: Rooted

Rooted Word of Wonder

When you hear the word rooted what do you think of? Maybe for you, a tree immediately comes to mind. Imagine how deep the roots are in the ground, which gives the tree strength and stability. What does being rooted in your faith look like?

Growing strong and holding firm in our faith can only happen when our lives and hearts are rooted in Jesus, and when we do this, we’ll discover what is most important to God: that we love Him and love others. Read Matthew 22:34–40. What do you notice? We learn of the first and greatest commandment, as well as the second: to love God and love others.

When we allow ourselves to be rooted in God’s love, we will grow, flourish, and live an abundant, fruit-filled life. How will you allow yourself to grow and flourish through God’s love?

This series will allow us to dig deeper into what it means to follow Christ and be rooted in Him, shaped by Him, and filled with His Spirit. Growing strong and holding firm in our faith can only happen when our lives and hearts are rooted in Jesus, and when we do this, we’ll discover what is most important to God: that we love Him and love others. We’ll understand that being rooted in Him causes His love to transform us and that He calls us to be humble like Jesus. We’ll learn that love and wisdom comes from God. When we allow ourselves to be rooted in His love, we will grow, flourish, and live abundant, fruit-filled lives.
